No More War — Children for World Peace brings children's voices into the decisions that commit their generation to war. It is convened in association with the Varkey Foundation, which has worked in education for over sixty years.
We align with no government or political party. Our demand is addressed to everyone in positions of power, wherever they are: listen to the generation that will inherit the world you leave behind, and work with us to shape the future we must all share.

Preventing war requires a collective commitment from everyone with a stake in our shared future to build a world where peace is expected, valued and actively championed.
Governments and diplomats have an indispensable role to play. But lasting peace cannot be achieved by political agreements alone. It must also be reinforced every day by the choices of businesses, educators, faith organisations, the charitable sector, media, cultural institutions, community leaders, and citizens who choose cooperation over division, dialogue over conflict and our shared humanity over our differences.
History reminds us that the greatest social transformations have never been driven solely from the top down. Civil rights, equality and environmental action became global movements because millions of people decided that the old way was no longer acceptable.
Peace deserves that same collective commitment.

WHY THE CRANE
A CHILD FOLDED A THOUSAND OF THESE
In 1945, a two-year-old girl named Sadako Sasaki survived the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. Ten years later she fell ill with leukaemia. From her hospital bed she began folding paper cranes, holding to an old belief that a thousand cranes carry a wish, hers was to live, and for no other child to suffer as she had.
She folded well over a thousand before she died, aged twelve. Her cranes did not save her, but they outlived her and the folded crane became the world's quietest symbol of peace, and of the children who pay war's highest price.
It is why the crane sits at the heart of this movement.
